Tips For Incorporating A Strong Call To Action In Your Sales Letter

If you’re not asking for the sale in your sales letters, you’re missing out big time on a ton of orders. Studies have shown that sales letters that ask for the order convert better than sales letters that don’t. That means that by adding 1 or 2 more lines in to your sales letter, you can increase your conversion rates simply and easily.

The bottom line is that you have to tell people what to do in your sales letter. Even if that’s as simple as saying “click here to order now” – you have to do it. Otherwise, they will just exit your website.

Although this may seem obvious, the bottom line is that you’re just entertaining them with your offer if you don’t ask for the sale. All descriptive sales copy needs a call to action (CTA), and if you don’t have one, then you’re limiting the results that you could be achieving.

A call to action is simply a way of telling people what action to take when visiting your website. Some of the most well-known call to actions are: “buy now”, click here to order”, “act now”, or “visit the link below”. A website that is missing these call to actions isn’t maximizing their true profit potential.

You see, your prospects are too busy with their daily lives to think about ordering from your website. This is why you have to ask for the sale – to remind them of what to do. So if they read your sales letter and you don’t ask for the sale – they may just move on to the next thing that they see.

And if they were truly interested in your offer, how do they know what to do next? Should they order using a phone? Should they mail something in? What should they do next? Should they click on a link somewhere to order? And if they do click on a link, what page will they be led to next?

You should never assume that your prospects are “smart enough” to figure these things out on their own. If you’re relying on the idea that your prospects will remember you and buy later, then they won’t. Later will more than likely never come, which is why You Need to ask for the sale now.

Using the word “now” in your sales copy can do wonders for you. It pushes people to action and increases your conversion rate. This is one of the most powerful call to action words you can ever use in your sales letter.

If you’re trying to Build Your business using the technique of branding, then you should know that it isn’t as effective as using the call to action technique. Even popular retail stores use call to actions to bring people into their stores.

For example, you may have heard the phrases “sale ends Friday” or “get this free bonus when your shop today. This sale won’t last long” – These work great because the call to action has a deadline and uses the technique of scarcity to get the prospect in the store. It’s the same thing as your website.

You can use countdown timers to add an element of scarcity, and towards the end of your sales letter, you can say something like, “this offer is only good til midnight”. You would want to configure the timer to end at midnight for each prospect so that your offer is more believable.

If you’re stuck on how to write a great call to action for your sales letter, then here are a few tips that will help you get started:

1) What is the primary purpose of your sales letter?

Is it to generate a lead? Is it to get a sale? Is it to get a click-through to your affiliate offer? Whatever your purpose is, you will want to create your call to action around this central point. Here’s the next step:

2) Use common trigger words to create your call to action

You can use words like “buy now”, or “click here now” as introductory words to get started. So if you’re creating an affiliate pre-sell page, to inspire the click through to the affiliate offer, you can say something like “click here now to learn more about this great program”. This is way better than saying “you should learn more about this course today”. Here’s the last step:

3) Insert it into your sales letter

This is the hardest step since it’s so easy to procrastinate in life. You want to take action and insert this new call to action in your sales letter, and in the P.S. of your sales letter. With this done, you should experience better results than you were previously receiving without your call to action.

These will come in handy when creating and modifying your sales letter. Be sure to start using them today to see an increase in your sales and profits.
