Money Making

How can two 13 year-olds make some good money without using money making websites?
We live in a suburb near Cleveland. We already do babysitting but we aren’t making very much money. About 10 each for 3-4 hours. We need some ideas. Since it’s summer we can’t really sell anything. HELP!
baby sit, dog sit, offer to walk dogs, garage sale, mow lawns, sell lemonade, clean houses, clean garages, pull weeds, ebay, a dishwasher at a restaurant(some do hire), paper route, wash inside and clean outside of cars, some fast food places hire, make crafts and sell them house to house.
There are many opportunities, just find something you like to do and go from there. Im 14 and I started trying to make money a few months ago. I like to excercise, so I decided to mow lawns for neighbors(its not neccessarily something that I liKe to do though) But I do like to sell things, and I often do garage sales, and usually have a lemonade stand as well. Just find something you like and work hard at it, if you work hard you will do well BTW i just made my first thousand, and I now have around 1,400 dollars. Good Luck!

$$$ the Entrepreneur’s Edge: Finding the Money $24.55 $$$ THE ENTREPRENEUR’S EDGE SYNOPSIS: This book will help the entrepreneur who may be well-versed in a given field, expertise, or industry to fill the ever-present gap of constantly seeking required capital. In addition to the increasing management, communication, and people skills the perhaps technically talented enterprisers must soon master; is the realization that he/she must also always seek capital if the business is to survive and grow. Capital, working capital, positive cash-flow is the life-blood of the business. Without it there is no growth, no survival, and no life. In the entrepreneur’s enthusiasm, the zest to achieve the vision, the exhilaration and activity of the moment, the need for money and a positive timely cash-flow is often overlooked. They are the very life-force of the business; the oxygen for the venture without which it will die. The Entrepreneur’s Edge will assist the planning necessary in finding the money, raising the money, making the money, and keeping the money. |

…That’s Who! The Complete Chrysalis Recordings (1973-1980) $34.98 Scottish whiskey-voiced vocalist Frankie Miller never made much of a splash in the States, despite, or perhaps because of, his fixation on American soul and R&B. Yanks have never been terribly appreciative of the music that originated in their homeland, which might have been a contributing factor to Miller’s marginal popularity in the U.S. He was a fairly major star in the U.K., though, big enough for EMI to remaster, repackage, and reissue his catalog (at least for the titles on their Chrysalis imprint) into this generous four-disc box. They even include a few rare singles and, more importantly, the original mix of his second effort, High Life, along with the previously released one, expanding this set’s total to eight albums from 1973 through 1980. Because he has recorded just a handful of platters since, and only one after his debilitating brain hemorrhage in 1994, this covers the bulk of his output and all of his best-known songs. The playing time of each runs over 75 minutes, yet there are songs missing that were included as extras reissued on the individually expanded editions by Eagle/Repertoire in 1994. Not including those cuts, most of them as good and some even better than the ones on the albums they were appended to, is a major miss for a compilation that implies completeness. Regardless, the spiffed-up audio is crisp and warm, and while some of the material is spotty, Miller’s performance is consistently energized and enthusiastic. From the gritty pub rock of his Brinsley Schwarz-backed debut to the raw soul of the Allen Toussaint-assisted High Life to the harder-edged rock of The Rock and the somewhat slick Easy Money, there is a plethora of terrific material here. Miller is as impressive singing ballads as tough, Faces-styled rockers, which makes each release reverberate with an ebb and flow making even some of the filler — and make no mistake, there is a good-sized helping of that — worth hearing. Well-arranged horns and occasional strings help, … |

100 Bullshit Jobs…And How to Get Them $13.99 The scholarly discipline of Bullshit Studies has blossomed in the last several years, fertilized by a number of critical works on the subject and the growing importance of the issue across a wide range of professions. Now, best-selling author and lifelong practitioner Stanley Bing enters the field with a comprehensive look at the many attractive jobs now available to those who are serious about their bullshit and prepared to dedicate their working life to it. What, Bing inquires, do a feng shui consultant, new media executive, wine steward, department store greeter, and Vice President of the United States have in common? What, too, are the actual duties performed by a McKinsey consultant? Other than sitting around making people nervous? Could that possibly be his core function? Likewise, what does an aromatherapist actually do, per se? Sniff things and rub them on people, for big fragrant bucks? Is that all? The answer in all cases is “Yes.” They all have bullshit jobs. These few, of course, are just the beginning. Across the length and breadth of this shrinking globe, skillful bullshit artists have secured pleasant, lucrative employment, and are enjoying themselves more than you are. In virtually every occupation, from Advertising to Yoga Franchising, lucky individuals who “work” in these coveted positions enjoy the best lives imaginable — they are paid well, they rarely break a sweat, and their professions are highly respected, because nobody really knows what they do. At once funny, useful, and tolerably philosophical, this groundbreaking work takes a close look at 100 bullshit jobs — the money they bring with them, the actual tasks and activities involved (if any), and famous and successful examples of each position, who will provide the neophyte with inspiration. Most crucially, Bing goes on to offer what others so far have not—a clear, concise strategy to help job-seekers at every level reach for that brass ring, knowing full |

12 Cliches of Selling (and Why They Work) $0.01 Written by Barry Farber, one of the country’s “best known, most respected and incredibly successful sales gurus” (Entrepreneur magazine), 12 Cliches Of Selling [And Why They Work] is steeped in the language and knowledge of what it takes to sell. It uses one cliché per chapter as a starting point-and mines its truth and powerful wisdom. “Never take no for an answer”, for example, belies the image of the stereotypical make-the-sale-at-any-cost salesperson and focuses on finding ways to get around obstacles, such as making the gatekeeper your ally and using humor to open closed doors. “You never get a second chance to make a first impression” shows how to sell yourself first, how to make people like, trust, and respect you, and how and why to make eye contact and keep a questioning attitude. “Your attitude determines your altitude” describes how to build and maintain a positive attitude, even in the face of rejection. “Don’t sell the steak, sell the sizzle” gives the 12 steps to a solid presentation. The art of networking and mentoring is covered in “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”, while the importance of value, including the value of getting your money’s worth-and all that it implies-falls under “You get what you pay for”. It’s the book for everyone who sells-and, as Robert Louis Stevenson once wrote, “Everyone lives by selling something.” |

Excerpt: The New London School explosion occurred on March 18, 1937, when a natural gas leak caused an explosion, destroying the London School of New London, Texas, a community in Rusk County previously known as “London.” The disaster killed in excess of 295 students and teachers, making it the worst catastrophe to take place in a U.S. school building. In the mid-1930s, the Great Depression was in full swing, but the London school district was one of the richest in America. Early in 1937, the school board canceled their natural gas contract and had plumbers install a tap into Parade Gasoline Company’s residue gas line in order to save money. This practice, while not explicitly authorized by local oil companies, was widespread in the area. The natural gas extracted with the oil was seen as a waste product and was flared off. As there was no value to the natural gas, the oil companies turned a blind eye. This “raw” or “wet” gas varied in quality from day to day, even from hour to hour. Untreated natural gas is both odorless and colorles… More: |
